A lakefront castle just over an hour’s drive from Dallas and Fort Worth is on the market for $5.5 million.

The property, at 119 Private Road 1820 along Lake Whitney near Waco, was listed Nov. 10. The castle, named the Parsons Castle after its owners, is in Bosque County with a Clifton address.

“We’ve been in some houses before that you would call castle-style homes that are located in communities,” said the listing agent, Eric Hacker of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. “I’ve never seen anything that overlooks a lake like this.”

The castle has a 3,000-square-foot ballroom, a commercial kitchen and bar, as well as bride and groom suites. The owners have held some weddings there, but they have never heavily marketed it as an event space, Hacker said.

“There’s so much potential at this property,” Hacker said. “[The owners] have really enjoyed what they’ve done, but they’ve never pushed it to the next level of what you may see from some event centers.”

The owners purchased the property for a personal residence but started to envision a fairy tale-style castle on the site that they could live in and also hold weddings and events in, according to Hacker.

It was about a 10-year process to engineer and build the home, he said. The castle was completed in 2018.

“Every little aspect of it was just so well thought out, very detailed,” Hacker said.
