Farmer kills self over accident on eve of grandson’s wedding – The Times of India

Hyderabad: Upset with the death of their relatives in a road accident ahead of his grandson’s wedding, a 68-year-old farmer, Gouragari Pentaiah, died by suicide in Papannapet of Medak district on Thursday. The accident happened at Jogipet in Sangareddy district on Wednesday when their relatives were going to the bride’s home to bring her to the wedding as is the custom.Three persons were killed and over 10 persons received injuries in the accident.
According to police, the groom from Bakaram of Pappannapet and the bride from Andole were to get married at the groom’s residence on Thursday. On Wednesday, the groom’s relatives started for the bride’s place in a tractor. At Mansanpally near Jogipet, the tractor overturned after its driver lost control.
Three of the groom’s relatives travelling in the tractor died in the accident and a case was registered at the Jogipet police station. After PME, their bodies were brought to Bakaram village for final rites. After knowing the news of the accident, Pentaiah and the groom slipped into depression and spoke to their relatives that they would take their lives.
However, relatives prevented them from taking any extra step and accompanied the groom and Pentaiah till 3am on Thursday. Later, when they fell asleep, Pentaiah killed himself at their home.
Police said that he could have taken the extreme step upset over the turn of events and also for the reason that the marriage might be cancelled. TNN
