Back in 2019, Sufi reflected on their online fame while celebrating their one-year anniversary.

She explained that she felt like she ‘never saw representation of people who looked like her’ in love stories while she was growing up, so she was ‘so glad’ to have the ‘opportunity’ to do that for others with the ‘love of her life’ Anjali.

‘I grew up witnessing and watching different kinds of love, some in my family and some in Bollywood,’ she explained.

‘After I got a little older and realized what my sexuality was, I never saw representation of people who looked like me.

‘I’m so glad I have the opportunity to be that with the love of my life.’

Many of the couple’s longtime supporters were in utter shock over the news.

‘WTF is this a prank?’ one Instagram user commented no Anjali’s announcement.

‘Just WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING. Omg,’ added another. Someone else exclaimed, ‘WAIT WHAT?’

‘No I’m going to cry,’ commented another heartbroken fan.

‘My heart’s hurting for real,’ read a fourth comment, while a fifth said, ‘I just hate everything about this break up.

‘This feels really personal. I hope you guys get strength to overcome this gruesome pain. The last thing I wanted to hear today.’
