Meghan Markle sparked fury from one royal after ‘huge gaffe’ at wedding – Express

Meghan Markle left Sarah Ferguson furious after she allegedly made a huge gaffe at Princess Eugenie’s wedding, it has been claimed.

The Duchess of Sussex reportedly announced the news of her first pregnancy at Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018.

Ok! Magazine reported that Meghan’s announcement infuriated Sarah Ferguson. Writing in their book, Royals at War, Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett wrote that Meghan had committed a “huge social gaffe”.

They explained: “Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child.

“This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a Royal stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah.”

This isn’t the first time there have been rumours of a Fergie expressing criticism of Meghan.

Earlier this week, fans of the Duchess of York believed she may have made a “thinly veiled dig” at Meghan because of comments she made on an episode of her podcast ‘Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah‘.

Fergie was talking about how she always wanted her daughters to smile when in public and told them they should not be grumpy.

She added: “I always say to my girls: when you’re out on the public stage, smile. And if you don’t want to be polite, don’t go on the public stage – because no one wants to see a grumpy princess. You’ve heard me say that many times.”

Following the release of the clip, some fans believed Fergie may have been referring to Meghan who was seen looking downbeat soon after she lost her Spotify deal in 2023.

Furthermore, alongside making multiple public appearances in recent months, Fergie has discussed the importance of maintaining good family relationships.

Speaking earlier this year to PEOPLE magazine in response to a question about supporting King Charles and Princess Kate during their cancer treatment, she said: “I think family unity is key… I think the key to life is that we all support each other.

“And also forgiveness is a great thing. I think forgiveness of yourself and forgiveness of others.”

Royal expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror it was these comments that could be a reference to the ongoing feud between the Sussexes and other senior members of the Royal Family.

He told the publication: “[It was a] clear reference to Meghan and Harry’s ongoing feud with Prince William and King Charles.

“But the Duchess [of York] has her own well-publicised family difficulties to deal with – she has never stopped trying to persuade the senior royals to rehabilitate her former husband Prince Andrew and when she talked about unity and the need for forgiveness, she no doubt also had her husband in mind.”
