WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Britain’s Prince William and American actress Kate Middleton were married on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey. It was hardly the first time the couple made headlines.

In the 13 years since, William and Princess Catherine have had three children, distanced themselves from some members of the Royal Family, and endured tragedy as Catherine announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024.

But on that day in 2011, only love was in the air for the couple who met in 2001 and dated for nearly a decade before they wed, enduring at least one breakup. Before a crowd of nearly 2,000 people, the William and Catherine exchanged vows before riding through the streets of London in a carriage to Buckingham Palace.

It has been a whirlwind ever since, with celebrations, controversy and children filling much of the last 13 years. Following Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022, William and Catherine adopted the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales.
