Prince Harry‘s close friend Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, is due to get married in just four days, and he has issued a cryptic message after his pal declined an invite.

High soceity’s wedding of the season will take place at Chester Cathedral on June 7, with Prince Harry nowhere to be seen despite previously being a very good friend of the groom.

Grosvenor will marry Olivia Henson in front of 400 people, including Prince William, who will reportedly serve as an usher for the wedding.

While visiting the wedding venue, the Duke of Westminster spoke about receiving “support” from certain people in the run up to the big day, which has left people wondering if this is a sly dig at Prince Harry.

He told Town & County: “I think next time we’re in here will be slightly more nerve-wracking, but I’m unbelievably excited. I just wanted to make it very clear how unbelievably helpful people have been, how supportive they’ve been so far which I’m unbelievably grateful for.

“I do realise that it’s going to be a big thing for the city. It’s going to be certainly a huge thing for us, so we’re just really grateful for all the help.”

Grosvenor and Prince Harry used to be incredibly close, travelling Africa together and attending each other’s birthday parties. Grosvenor is even the godfather to Prince Harry‘s son Prince Archie.

A source previously told The Daily Express: “When they were growing up Harry and Hugh were much closer. Hugh was a young boy when William was in his late teens and early twenties. That’s why this has all come as such a shock.”

Grosvenor reportedly wanted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the wedding, but they declined as it would risk overshadowing it, according to The Sunday Times.

A source told the publication: “Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both.

“He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”

Grosvenor is also close with other members of the Royal Family; godfather to Prince George and Prince Archie, and the godson of King Charles.

He was previously called the most eligible man in Britain due to his staggering £10 billion net worth, but will now be settling down with Henson at their Cheshire estate.
