Princess Theodora of Greece is finally nearing her long-awaited royal wedding after a four-year delay. The daughter of the late King Constantine of Greece, aged 40, is scheduled to marry American lawyer Matthew Kumar in Athens on September 28, 2024.

Theodora announced her engagement to Matthew in November 2018, sharing a photo of them against the iconic backdrop of Tower Bridge in London. Originally planning to tie the knot in 2020, the couple faced unforeseen postponements due to the global pandemic.

Their first wedding plans were set for May 2020 on the Greek island of Spetses, but the COVID-19 outbreak disrupted their arrangements. Despite the setback, they marked the day with a celebration dressed in Greece’s national colours, blue and white, indulging in Greek cuisine with loved ones.

Subsequent attempts to marry were also thwarted by pandemic-related restrictions, prompting the couple to postpone their wedding once more. In early summer 2023, they aimed for a ceremony in Porto Heli, Greece, as announced by the Greek royal family’s official page.

Tragically, Theodora’s father, King Constantine, passed away in January 2023, just months before their planned wedding date. The family mourned his loss in a private funeral, leading Theodora and Matthew to delay their nuptials out of respect.

Now, after enduring a six-year engagement and facing several obstacles, Theodora and Matthew are preparing for their wedding once again. Speculation swirls about whether Theodora will wear her original wedding dress by Celia Kritharioti and if her brother, Crown Prince Pavlos, will step in to escort her down the aisle in place of their late father.

As anticipation builds, all hope for Theodora and Matthew to finally have their dream wedding becomes even stronger.
