“Stranger Things” star Millie Bobby Brown is engaged to a Syracuse University alumnus, and one of her co-stars is set to officiate their wedding.

“I have one of those licenses to get people married,” actor Matthew Modine told “Access Daily” hosts Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover. “Millie thought it’d be great, and then Jake said it would be a great idea.”

Brown, 20, got engaged to Jake Bongiovi, the 21-year-old son of rock singer Jon Bon Jovi, last year. Bongiovi briefly attended Syracuse University from 2020-2021, but did not return for a sophomore year; he is now an actor with roles in upcoming films “Sweethearts” (with Kiernan Shipka) and “Rock Bottom” (with fellow SU alumnus Tom Everett Scott of “That Thing You Do!” fame).

Modine, who played “Papa” to Brown’s “Eleven” on the hit Netflix series, added that “they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife.”

According to E! News, Modine first started officiating weddings during the Covid pandemic, starting with an outdoor ceremony for friends in Upstate New York. The Emmy-nominated actor, whose credits include “Full Metal Jacket,” “Cutthroat Island,” and “Weeds,” told “Access Daily” he’s been married to his wife for 44 years.

“Stranger Things” fans may be surprised to learn that Modine and Brown are close considering their characters’ complicated relationship on the show. Brown was 11 years old when she first met Modine, who is now 65.

“We meshed,” Brown told Tudum by Netflix in 2022, “and it was just a true, real friendship. Nothing was ever forced. It just worked.”

The British actress, also known for roles in “Damsel,” “Enola Holmes” and “Godzilla vs. Kong,” has been dating Bongiovi since 2021. A wedding date has not been announced, but she told Jimmy Fallon recently on “The Tonight Show” that he proposed while they were scuba diving.

“He gives me, like, a shell, and I turn it over and it’s a ring,” Brown said. “And I like, looked at him, and he was like, ‘Bllll!’ … So I was, like, ‘Okay.’ And I think it was underwhelming, but we freaked out. Anyways, he puts the ring on my hand, and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger — plummets, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie… he threw himself, he does a cinematic, like, grab, opens (his hand) and he saved the ring.”

“I truly feel like it’s a reflection of who he is and I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back. And if anyone drops the ball, we got it.”

But despite leaning on close relationships for an officiant, don’t expect Bongiovi’s famous dad to perform at the wedding.

“I feel like that’s asking me to go and do like a full-on play for everyone (at my wedding),” Brown told the “Today” show last year. “I think the man needs a break.”

The “Livin’ on a Prayer” singer and frontman for his namesake band is set to release a new album this summer, but recently said he might not be able to tour after undergoing vocal cord surgery in 2022. The 61-year-old musician has also spoken publicly about giving his blessing to his son and future daughter-in-law.

“They’re growing together,” Bon Jovi told E! News. “They’re madly in love and we love them both for that. It’s an exciting adventure.”
