BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The Tulsa County Court Clerk Satellite Office in Broken Arrow held its monthly Wedding Wednesday event to host free ceremonies for couples to get married.

FOX23 spoke with Erin Hofener, Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the City of Broken Arrow.

Once a month, they have an event called Wedding Wednesday’s, where they have ministers available to give free weddings, not including the charges of marriage licenses.

“You can just come, get married in front of our cute little mural we have on Main Street, go eat dinner, go eat lunch, and just enjoy the Rose District and what we have to offer here,” she said.

She said Wedding Wednesday’s started as a promotion for the Tulsa County Court Clerk Satellite Office in Broken Arrow to make people aware they were there.

Hofener said it’s a way to give back to the community as well.

She also said they have different merchants attend the event every month to hand out free stuff.

“It’s kind of a wonderful partnership between the businesses and giving the couples a really nice experience, and a fun little wedding gift,” she said.

On this Wedding Wednesday, they had 37 scheduled appointments for people to get married.

Hofener said they mostly see two different types of couples. Some couples want to get married but don’t want to spend money on a big wedding, and others are maybe getting married out of the country and need to do it legally here.

She said either way, they want to make every experience special for each couple.
