Of late, OTT giants have been focusing on creating content related to high-profile Indian weddings to tap into unexplored pockets in the Indian OTT space. Essentially, they capture the footage at these high-profile weddings and later release content on their platforms with cinematic effects.
According to the latest reports, the OTT giant Netflix is doing something similar. It is understood that the OTT platform has paid a significant amount for the exclusive digital streaming rights to Varun Tej and Lavanya’s wedding, which recently took place in Tuscany, Italy.
Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital rights to the wedding, and their crew followed the couple from the pre-wedding festivities in Hyderabad to the lavish wedding in the picturesque locales of Italy. The footage will now be edited and enhanced into a Netflix show. There are reports that Netflix paid around Rs 8 crores for the digital rights to the wedding.
However, Netflix has not yet issued an official statement on this matter, so the authenticity of these reports is not fully established. But if Netflix has indeed covered the wedding, it could be a significant development, as we would get to see exclusive footage of the Mega family, including Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, Ram Charan, Sai Dharam Tej, Allu Arjun, along with the couple, Varun and Lavanya.
