Women Arriving to Work at Wedding Realize Huge Mistake—’So Embarrassed’ – Newsweek

2 minutes, 28 seconds Read

Two women who took their new job’s dress code super seriously recounted an embarrassing but entertaining moment in a viral video.

In a TikTok video with more than 420,000 views and 36,000 likes at the time of writing, Emma Cassidy shared what happened when she and her friend Holly were asked to work at a wedding.

“No, guys, I’m so embarrassed!” Cassidy exclaimed in the video before explaining that she and Holly were instructed to “come glam” to the wedding, which had a glamour theme.

However, upon arriving at the venue dressed to the nines, Cassidy and Holly quickly realized they had misinterpreted the instructions when they saw what their co-workers were wearing.

“We come in, and we sit down,” Cassidy recounted. “We’re sat there like pure, glamorous. Everyone’s like silent, right, pure glam to the nines, and then they’re like, we’re just waiting on the rest of the team.”

When the other staff arrived, dressed in trousers and T-shirts, people began questioning if the women were guests: “They actually directed them to another room and directed us the opposite way. We, you know, we take the memo too far,” Cassidy said in the video.

The pair even considered leaving the event when they realized their mistake but ended up making the most of it.

“We ended up doing it after almost leaving as [we] were embarrassed,” Cassidy told Newsweek. “[It] ended up being good as when the wedding began, they asked the girls to change, but they never had dresses, so we ended up being bottle service girls as we were glam.”

In the comments on the TikTok video, people were in stitches over the ladies’ extra glamorous work looks.

“I mean, they did say glam,” said commenter Alison. TikTok user Natalie wrote: “Best thing I have heard all weekend.”

“Oh, this is hilarious, ladies,” said another commenter. One viewer wrote: “Better to be overdressed than underdressed.”

Some commenters on the viral video also pointed out that the color of Cassidy’s dress could have been interpreted as a faux pas.

“Oh God Emma no… Never wear red to a wedding,” said commenter Alana, referring to the old wives’ tale that wearing the color to a wedding means you’ve slept with the groom—or at least wanted to.

“People said you’re not meant to wear red as it means you slept with the groom, which I did not know,” Cassidy said.
